day trip to versailles
some tips -
french snobbery …can be real
i advise against athleisure / sweats and would dress fairly nice when out in public
there can be some american prejudice. learning a few french phrases and greetings goes a long way
try everything! france is known for wine, cheese, bread, escargots, foie gras (maybe look it up after trying it)
even just the tomatoes and peaches from street vendors to know what true produce tastes like
the french eat late, so lean into that since places don’t open until 7pm
meals are a time to really enjoy the food and company, so take your time! waiters will only drop the bill once you ask for it directly (“l’addition, s’il vous plait”)
the one city to really embrace museums
transportation
such a gorgeous city, i highly recommend walking through (especially to walk off big dinners)
metro is an option, but i prefer using Lime to scooter around
